LIVERPOOL NET WIN

Liverpool has defeated Sunderland in a Premier League match played at the Anfield Stadium on Wednesday. Liverpool won the match quite comfortably by 3-0. This was Liverpool’s 8th victory in the ongoing Premier League. This win took Liverpool to no. 8 in the points table.  Liverpool currently has 31 points in 21 matches.

On the other hand, this was Sunderland’s ninth defeat in the competition. However, in spite of losing the match, the Black Cats didn’t slip down in the points table. They were at no. 14 before this match and they are still at the same position. They have 22 points in 21 matches.

Approximately, 45,000 people were out there in the Anfield Stadium to cheer for the home team and they certainly got their money’s worth. Their team played superbly in the match and brought smile on their faces.

Liverpool took the lead in the 19th minute of the match with the goal of Raheem Sterling. It was a wonderful finish by the English midfielder. He capitalized on Luis Suarez’s pass and chipped the ball over the head of Simon Mignolet to give his team a lead of 1-0.

Just after a few minutes, Luis Suarez doubled the lead of Liverpool. It was a great move by Steven Gerrard and Suarez gave the finishing touch in style. That was the last goal to be scored in the first half.

Liverpool got ahead by 3-0 in the 7th minute of the second half when Luis Suarez scored his second goal in the match. Again, it was Steven Gerrard who set up the goal for Suarez with a long ball from a distance of 40 yards and the Uruguayan striker didn’t make any mistake in tapping the ball past Mignolet. The Black Cats didn’t manage to make a comeback from that stage and ended up on the losing side.

Liverpool’s next match will be a FA Cup encounter against Mansfield Town on Sunday.
